Live from the County: Nov. 28

10:01 a.m. Back from vacation and feeling refreshed - just in time for Ways and Means Committee followed by the budget committee. Cathy Moses is introducing the new Schroon Supervisor at the moment.

10:08 a.m. The committee is flying through the resolutions for this month. However, they are currently discussing a waiver for an employee in the DPW who lives outside of the county.

10:10 a.m. Tony LaVigne said that the employee has received many hours of training and is a highly qualified candidate that is important to the DPW.

10:15 a.m. Dan Manning read the employment policy as it pertains to living within the county, calling several portions of the policy "poorly written."

10:22 a.m. The supervisors are discussing the issue further. There are currently nine employees who live outside the county, but some are still within the year window to move into the county.

10:28 a.m. Manning stated that he believes that the policy should be updated to sure up the language.

10:32 a.m. The board tables the resolution to waive the residency requirement for the employee, saying that more legwork needs to be done.

10:37 a.m. The committee is now moving on to resolutions from the floor.

10:38 a.m. There were no resolutions from the floor, but there will be an executive session regarding pending litigation, which it sounds like will be about the North Hudson election results that are being contested. Manning said that it will take about 10 minutes, so we'll be back in a few...

10:59 a.m. The committee has returned from executive session, but there is no business to be done. The meeting is adjourned and the budget meeting will start in 15 minutes.
