Crown Point to celebrate Thanksgiving

Community dinner slated Nov. 27

Crown Point will observe Thanksgiving with a community dinner, sponsored by the town’s churches and businesses. The turkey dinner will be served Wednesday, Nov. 27, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crown Point United Methodist Church on Creek Road. The dinner is free.

Sunday school seeks Operation Christmas Child donations

The holiday season is just around the corner and this year the North River United Methodist Church’s Sunday school children are participating with the Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Gift Campaign.

Ticonderoga walk takes aim at hunger

Annual CROP Walk set Oct. 19

The 10th annual CROP Walk to end hunger will be held in Ticonderoga. The 2013 event will Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. It will begin and end at the Heritage Museum at the entrance to Bicentennial Park. There will be mile, 2-mile and 4-mile walks.

The new principal at Mountainside Christian Academy in Schroon Lake is no stranger. Jennie Bensen, a 1997 Mountainside graduate and former teacher at the school, is now the principal. She replaces Connie Phillips, who retired last spring.

Heritage Day event slated

A pair of Crown Point churches will join for a trip back in time. The First Congregational Church of Crown Point and the United Methodist Church of Crown Point will hold a joint service to mark Heritage Day Sunday, Aug. 18, at 9:30 a.m. at the Penfield Church.
