— The Indian Lake Central School recently hosted an assembly on the topic of the risks involved with using illegal drugs and underage drinking.

The school put together an expert panel to discuss the consequences of such risky behavior.

The audience of students in grades 6-12 and their teachers were provided a scenario about students at an underage party where there was underage drinking and illegal drugs being used. Also in the scenario, there was an accident with a fatality of one of the passengers while a 17-year-old student who was driving and was determined to be intoxicated.

The expert panel, along with members of the audience analyzed the many parts of the scenario with the panel discussing the legal consequences that were associated each part.

Included in the panel were: Hamilton County Judge Feldstein; Hamilton County District Attorney Marsha Purdue; State Police officers Alberts and Fleishman; and Hamilton County Sheriff Deputy Hutchins.
