While the snow is melting and we anxiously await the departure of the mud and blackflies, a group of dedicated volunteers and staff are hard at work planning various activities and events for the Indian Lake Sabael and Blue Mountain Lake.
We all know the signs of the impending season — The Ol’Station opens up, the garden clubs are busy sprucing up planters and the town parks, the lifeguard chairs appear on our beaches, busses filled with rafters are frequent sights in town and on the river and out-of-state license plates begin to outnumber those New York plates starting with HA. These are sure signs our summer season has arrived — just a few months to showcase our fabulous locale and its offerings.
The Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce and town have been busy planning new and enhanced activities to attract tourism to our area and provide our residents — both year-round and seasonally — with a wealth of cultural programming.
May springs into action with Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts’ (ALCA) Battle of the Bands (May 3) followed by Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Spring Fundraiser & Meeting (May 8); Indian Lake Central School’s Spring Concert (May 14); Merry Brunch of May Fundraiser for ALCA’s Living Able Program (May 19); Town-wide & Charity Yard Sale ( May 24-25); Adirondack Museum opens (May 24); and ALCA’s Great American Songbook in Concert (May 24 and 26).
June begins with another ALCA activity, the play The Spitfire Grill (June 7-8, 13-15) followed by the Black Fly Challenge which begins in Indian Lake this year (June 8).
